Camera Operators

Both Mark and Patty, partners at Crystal Pyramid Productions, were pretty much born to be camera operators.  Mark’s father and Patty’s mother both documented the evolution of their families with small film cameras.  Mark and Patty have been operating cameras for decades.  And they’ve inherited their parents’ film cameras which occupy a place of honor in their studio.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth 1.8 million words a minute (according to Dr. James McQuivey, who did the math.)  So the value of video is clear.

We have shot video for over four decades for many happy clients including Adidas, Budweiser, IBM, Mail Boxes Etc., Inside Edition, Oprah and the list goes on. We are adding young, energetic camera operators to the crew who are eager to work with you.

Teleprompter Operator Crews

The need for teleprompters with operators is growing in Southern California.  We’ve got you covered with our various systems.

In-Studio Teleprompters

In-Front-of-Lens Camera Teleprompters are essential for certain video or film productions, especially if your talent has a long or complex script to deliver. The teleprompter monitor can be mounted with the camera on a tripod plate. Or it can be affixed to a stand in front of the camera. In the event of a two-camera shoot, we have two 17″ professional Hi-Brite systems available.

The Presidential Teleprompter System and Downstage Systems with two 17″ Hi-Brite VGA/ SDI/ HDMI monitors positioned on each side of a podium is perfect for keynote speakers or performers at conferences, award shows, corporate events and more.  The prompter op brings two laptops for redundancy.

The Presidential Teleprompter can also be fed to the talent via Downstream Monitors so the talent is free to walk across the stage and see these monitors from every angle.

Interrotron

We recently started getting requests for the Interrotron.  You may wonder, what exactly is an “Interrotron?” It sounds like something straight out of a SciFi movie like “2001” – “Dave, step away from the Interrotron!”

But it is actually a simple set-up invented by documentarian Errol Morris. He wanted his interviewees to stare down the barrel of the camera lens, which is compelling for the viewer. But how does a producer cajole the talent to look into the lens? Mr. Morris realized that a teleprompter monitor with the face of the interviewer would be easier for the interviewee to respond to. It typically entails two teleprompters, one set up for the talent and one set up for the interviewer. It’s weird to envision until you have seen it in action, and then you have your “Ah ha!” moment. Suffice it to say, Crystal Pyramid Productions can deliver, set up and operate the Interrotron for your video production, no problem.

Video Producers

Our top on-staff video producer is Patricia Mooney, an industry veteran who has worked on hundreds of corporate and broadcast shoots over four decades. She has been asking probing questions since she was a tot and asked her father why the sky was blue. She has won honors as a Top 100 Producer twice. Clients include Extra, Inside Edition, Entertainment Tonight, the VA, Susan Komen, NS Microwave, Reebok, Adidas, and many others.

Patty has long been a writer and poet and has worked on many scripts for corporate and broadcast clients. Her writing capabilities and extensive travels around the world are unique qualities that make her an even better producer.

Creativity: Patty has a creative mind and is able to come up with unique and compelling ideas for video content.

Technical skills: She has technical skills that include shooting, lighting, sound engineering, and editing. She is also proficient in using DaVinci video editing software and has a strong understanding of different video formats.

Communication skills: She can communicate effectively with clients, crew members, and actors. She understands the needs of clients and works collaboratively to achieve their goals.

Attention to detail: Patty pays excellent attention to detail to ensure that the video is of high quality, and there are no errors or glitches.

Flexibility: Patty is adaptable and flexible, able to make quick decisions and change course when necessary to ensure that the final product meets the client’s expectations.

Organizational skills: Patty is highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. She can create schedules, manage budgets, and ensure that the project is completed within the given timeframe.

Passion: She is passionate about her work and has a genuine interest in the industry. She is constantly learning and keeping up with the latest trends and technologies.

Sound Technicians

Our audio techs have boomed and/or lavalier-miked hundreds of luminaries, celebrities, and VIPs indoors and outdoors, on sidewalks, behind desks, in the air, and on the rolling deck of the U.S.S. Stennis aircraft carrier in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.  Their work has been “heard” in hundreds of projects including theatrical releases, video documentaries, instructional videos, corporate and broadcast videos. Post-Production Crews – Video Editors

We use the best state-of-the-art professional DaVinci Resolve editing software professional suite.  We can provide our editing services both in our studio and on-site.   Patricia Mooney is our primary editor whose award-winning work has been seen on television, in corporate projects and on the Internet.  With her technical proficiency, Patty has edited everything from Candids videos, aka “Happy Face Videos” which have required her to keep vampire’s hours on-site at various hotels at conventions of all stripes, to documentaries, commercials, music videos, testimonials and corporate training videos. She loves her work as a multi-award-winning Digital Video Editor. 

Patty can think outside of the box and come up with innovative and engaging ideas for video content. She has a keen eye for aesthetics, and is able to enhance footage with color grading, sound design, and visual effects.

She has excellent communication skills and is able to work collaboratively with clients and other creatives. She listens to client feedback and incorporates it into the final product.
